ARU SHAH AND THE CITY OF GOLD ended on a huge cliffhanger. Cervantes' Storm Runner spin-off Shadow Bruja this fall, so fingers crossed there will be a future surprise in store for us about the twins and a new adventure to save the world! There's a precedent, too - The Rick Riordan Presents Line is releasing J.C. Also, I'm not ready for the series to be over and don't want to say goodbye forever. I do wish we had seen more of the twins in the series, and I'm actually hoping that Chokshi and Disney will pair up to write a spin-off series featuring the two of them when they come of ages, because they were really shafted due to how young they are. The twins are still too young to wield weapons or take part in the battle to stop the Sleeper once and for all, but they can still spout important prophecies and make fashionable armor to keep their friends safe. And yes, there is even a little romance now that everyone is older, with first crushes and wishes for something more, and that's all I'll say about that.Īs is usually the case in the later books (and here come series spoilers, so you've been warned!), the group to save the world consists of Pandava sisters Aru, Mini, and Brynne, along with Pandava-adjacent Aiden and his cousin Rudy, with occasional cameos from the Pandava twins Sheela and Nikita. They've become true sisters who have one another's backs, no matter what.

They've become true warriors adept at saving the world, while still having every day doubts, hopes, and dreams. I'd forgotten just how much I enjoyed the series (And just how much fans of Percy Jackson will also be beyond enchanted and enthralled!) and how much I'd missed the characters.Īru Shah and her friends/sisters have grown so much since the first book. (And I think I may do a series overview as well, because this series is incredible and deserves that.) As I read each book, I got more and more immersed in the world. This past month, I re-read all of the early Aru Shah books and then read the ones I was behind on, concluding my binge with the series finale ARU SHAH AND THE NECTAR OF IMMORTALITY. It isn't often that a finale lives up to its predecessors and delivers everything it has promised readers. “(Aru) had two paths before her - destroy or be destroyed - and she couldn't stomach the thought of taking either one.” ~ARU SHAH AND THE NECTAR OF IMMORTALITYīack in 2018, I interviewed Roshani Chokshi over at BroadwayWorld about her brand-new series Aru Shah and reviewed the first book (Which I've reposted today if you're new to the series and want Zero Spoilers! Check that out instead and you can STILL enter to win ARU SHAH AND THE NECTAR OF IMMORTALITY for when you're all caught up!)
